Our mission: Find our dogs great forever homes. Educate about responsible pet ownership.
Westside Animals for Adoption, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) shelter and adoption program, associated with Best Friends Pet Resort & Canine Academy.
Every dog ready for adoption has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, licensed and chipped. We work with their manners and social skills daily. Many of our pets have a known history of health and behavior; some walk in as strays. Our goal is to help match the right pet to your needs.
To Adopt a Dog:
We have a simple process. We start by getting to know you to get the right match. We'd like to know about your lifestyle, presence of children or other pets, living situation, preference for certain types of dogs and energy levels. If a match is made, prospective owners complete an adoption agreement and submit it along with an adoption fee. Prospective owners agree to a home visit to help make the right placement for a pet, but home visits may be waived depending on the circumstances. WAA accepts a pet's return with a refund within a month for any reason. After that the pet may be returned but the fee is not refunded.
Pets are evaluated for proper behavior; however, there is no way to be absolutely sure that what it does for us will occur in your home. How a pet responds depends on your ability to manage and educate the pet as well as on its previous experiences.
Adopting a previously owned pet can entail some frustrations during the period of adjustment, but it is also a delightful opportunity to find a best friend. We believe that pets and people can be wonderfully adaptable and adoptions are the beginning of a great relationship. Plus you have done your share of taking an unwanted soul into your loving home. Best Friends Pet Resort trainer can help smooth the transition for you and your new furry friend.
Adopted pets become eligible for reduced boarding rates at Best Friends Pet Resort.
To Place a Dog in Our Program:
Westside Animals for Adoption, Inc. accepts a limited number of dogs from owners who are unable to keep them. Every effort will be made to find a great, permanent home for each dog accepted. Well-behaved and socialized pets are more likely to find the next great home quickly.
Owners relinquishing their pets will sign a contract and pay a small release fee, the amount of which depends on whether the dog has been spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, to contribute to the expenses of sheltering and promoting a pet for adoption. The fee may be waived under extenuating circumstances.
How to Help: Adopt, Donate, Volunteer, Tell Your Friends:
Westside Animals for Adoption, Inc. heavily depends on our community to:
• Volunteer to walk, train and play with the animals,
• Provide donations of food, toys and blankets,
• Contribute funds for veterinary care,
• Fall in love with a dog and take it home.
Many thanks to the local veterinarians who help out with low-cost spaying and neutering, vaccinations and general veterinary care.
